The Needham Community Council is a vibrant organization committed to making a positive impact in the Needham community.  We are currently seeking a dynamic individual to join us as the Director of Development and Public Relations.

Position: Director of Development and Public Relations
Reports to: Executive Director
Hours: Full-Time Position
Purpose: Oversees all aspects of the development and public relations program for the Needham Community Council.

Job Duties:
1. Manages all aspects of Council internal fundraising including direct mail, major gifts, grant writing, memorial giving, as well as overall responsibility for the donor database.
2. Works with Council leadership to determine grant funding priorities. Researches and writes all grant applications worth pursuing. Ensures grants are submitted on time and follow up proactively on pending proposals.
3. Create timely and engaging reports to funders
4. Identifies potential prospects and coordinates solicitations for the Executive Director and key volunteers.
5. Oversees and coordinates direct mail program.
6. Provides oversight, strategic direction and planning for third-party special events.
7. Coordinates and produces brochures and newsletters.
8. Represents the Council on various community organizations and service clubs as needed.
9. Develops and implements annual Development Plan and works with ED to create an annual budget and works toward quantifiable goals as set forth in the plan.
10. Forms and staffs the Development Committee of the Board of Directors and assists them in maximizing their volunteer experience.
11. Provides leadership and direction to advance the capabilities of Board members, staff and volunteers to encourage them to identify, cultivate and solicit donors.
12. Provides supervision to data entry staff and volunteers to ensure that gifts are entered properly and acknowledged within 48 hours of receipt.
13. Maintains and enhances NCC relationships with donors to ensure effective stewardship.
14. Works to enhance the understanding of the philanthropic mission of the Council among staff, volunteers, donors and the community at large.
15. Other duties as assigned and as required to promote the organization.

Experience/Education:
Bachelor’s degree in a related field
Minimum of 5 years of development and an established record of success securing grants and donations
Public Relations experience.

Strong database understanding – Prior work with E-Tapestry a plus.
