The Development Operations and Database Manager joins Boston Ballet’s fundraising team at an exciting moment of growth and is a position vital to executing high-level strategies and ensuring the success of the fundraising operations.

Candidates for this position should have Tessitura/CRM expertise, a proven track record of executing major projects and a strong collaboration mindset. The Dev. Ops. and Database Mgr. is a high-visibility position internally, partnering with the entire Development (fundraising) team along with Boston Ballet’s leadership, artistic and administrative departments, and the Boston Ballet School.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Development operations and database management

  • Leverage Tessitura, Boston Ballet’s CRM system, to monitor all solicitations, reporting progress to goals, and oversee donor stewardship
  • Conduct strategic analyses to drive data-informed decision-making across the organization
  • Lead data tracking and management for major gifts prospecting as well as campaign-related activities

Organizational leadership

  • Inspire team members to utilize the CRM, ensuring our systems and tools are accessible through regular trainings and clear processes
  • Serve as an ambassador for the Development Team in Boston Ballet’s Tessitura User Group and in all broader Tessitura community matters
  • Participate in developing fiscal year targets for fundraising programs, in collaboration with the program directors and senior leadership
  • Collaborate with frontline fundraisers on solicitation strategies, proposals, and talking points for significant prospects
  • Develop business case for incoming planned gifts and seek approval from the Gift Acceptance Committee, which includes the Chair of the Board and senior leadership
  • Create presentation and reporting materials for the Board of Trustees, Advisors, and Trustees Emeriti as well as top donors

Prospect research

  • Proactively identify new and high-level major gift leads and prospects through various research tools and screenings
  • Lead list management of relationship managers’ portfolios regarding movement of qualified/disqualified prospects, treatment in database, and cultivation touchpoints
  • Create research profiles of prospects and supporters for senior leadership

Donor stewardship

  • Oversee all donor recognition, crediting, reporting, and delivery of promised benefits
  • Partner with relationship managers to ensure donors receive benefits associated with their gifts, e.g. dancer sponsorships, endowment reports, scholarship assignments
  • Manage Playbill recognition for Development, overseeing a Boston Ballet Volunteer to guarantee the accuracy of donor and sponsorship listings

REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent
  • 3-5 years of experience in development, consulting, project management, or a related field
  • Experience with Tessitura preferred; technical experience in data analysis and databases
  • Exceptional organizational skills with ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects
  • Results-oriented and ability to take ownership of staying on timeline and reaching goals
  • Strong presentation skills and experience preparing executive-level presentation materials
  • Proactive in identifying and addressing unmet operational needs
  • Flexible working style with ability to drive consensus among colleagues from different departments
  • Ability to take and incorporate direction and feedback from various department leaders
  • Discretion in managing highly confidential information
