About Nature Israel

Nature Israel (previously known as the American Society for the Protection of Nature in Israel/ ASPNI) is a green bridge for Americans who care about Israel and creating a sustainable healthy environment for Israel and our planet. Nature Israel raises funds to support the work of the Society for the Protection of Nature in Israel (SPNI). Founded in 1953, SPNI is the country’s preeminent environmental organization. Its advocacy efforts have preserved all of Israel’s open spaces since its founding, including catalyzing the creation of its national parks and marine sanctuaries. Its core work maintains national conservation and wildlife protection, including for billions of birds. Its environmental education programs are provided in schools nation-wide as well as at its eleven field schools. SPNI continues to lead the field in the region, addressing climate change with nature-based solutions like rewilding lost wetlands. SPNI’s work has a regional and global impact as nature knows no borders  in this biodiversity hotspot at the intersection of three continents. Our motto is: Educate. Love. Protect.

THE OPPORTUNITY

While SPNI is one of the largest nonprofits in Israel, well known, beloved and a part of the fabric of Israeli society, it has remained relatively unknown in the US. Nature Israel is in a major growth phase and has tripled in size in the last four years in an effort to reach a much larger audience in the US. This role will support the organization's larger goal of introducing SPNI to the American Jewish community and greatly increasing its number of donors. Nature Israel is meeting the communities' needs, offering an apolitical, positive and green way to connect to Israel that supports all life in the region, and works to build a sustainable future. This is an excellent opportunity for a development professional looking to grow their skills in major gifts, planned giving and individual giving strategy within a mission-driven organization.
