Takodah YMCA is an equal-opportunity employer guided by our camp motto, “Friendly to All.”
The Opportunity
The Takodah YMCA is seeking a strategic, relationship-driven Director of Philanthropy and Communications to help shape the future of a historic, mission-driven overnight camp. This role offers a unique opportunity to build and grow a culture of philanthropy while deepening engagement with a passionate community of families, alumni, and supporters.
The role will build on an existing foundation of philanthropic support and help expand annual and major gift revenue. This position will collaborate closely with the Executive Director/CEO, Camp Director, and Board of Directors to design and implement a comprehensive strategy and action plan to expand and diversify philanthropic support and constituent involvement with the Takodah YMCA.
With a 110-year camping legacy, Takodah YMCA is one of New England’s premier overnight camps, serving over 1,700 campers each year. Our mission is to develop positive values that enrich the spirit, mind, and body by providing quality programming for all, with an emphasis on youth.
Primary Responsibilities
An ideal candidate is someone who works well in a small team environment. While this position comes with a lot of autonomy, it also requires an individual to collaborate with the team and work towards shared goals. We have set an Annual Fund goal of $320,000 for 2026 and feel this is achievable as we build upon the success of our past. This is a fantastic opportunity to help enhance a culture of philanthropy in partnership with the ED/CEO and Board. The foundation is here, and we are looking for a partner to help us reach the next level.
Requirements
We encourage candidates from all backgrounds and experiences to apply, even if you don’t meet every listed qualification. Candidate qualifications include a bachelor's degree, demonstrated experience asking for and closing on fundraising for annual needs and strategic campaigns, and experience building and maintaining long-term relationships with major individuals, donors, foundations, and corporations. The ideal candidate will have strong computer skills using Microsoft Office, Google Suite, graphic design programs, relationship databases, and strong writing skills. Grant writing experience is preferred.
The position may work remotely on a day-to-day basis, with the ability to drive to the office a few days each month. Ability to travel for donor and alumni visits is required, and some weekends and evenings are required to attend key camp events and board meetings. Ideally, the candidate will spend significant time on-site during the summer camp season.
